Die leere Stadt

The reason for the study was a research commission of the International Building Exhibition Urban Conversion Saxony-Anhalt 2010 on Magdeburg southeast. There, old industrial wasteland is to be restored against the backdrop of a difficult ownership structure. The south-east of Magdeburg is a manifestation of the empty city. The Empty City is a mental construction of urban space, which simultaneously perceives emptiness as a lack and possibility of urban development. An innovative land management concept has been developed that takes into account economic, social, ecological and urban planning interests. At the heart of the concept is a competition for land-political appropriation.
